Where are you located? my spring flush is almost done those in cooler zones hasnt started.

Now, you could cut back after roses have bloomed.

Roses do not have to be pruned for that matter unless you want them smaller.

Thanks,but I don't want them smaller but they just don't seem so be growing right. My mama rose has really small leaves and they seem to be losing there green color. Kind of white but not powder mildew. She is about 3 years young.

Robert, that sounds like a cultural problem that won't be solved by pruning. Could you post a photo of the leaves and plant and tell us the variety name?

Yes I got married here also and have been here with my wife for over 35 years. We love it. But as we get older the cold winters do not love us back.

That cold and Spring freeze thaw weather can really affect your roses too Robert. There is a wonderful book "The Undaunted Garden" by Lauren Springer that is a great help for the tough climate gardeners. It has a section on roses that can handle your conditions.
