Why in the world would you need a 4' deep hole to bury a tiny little lizard? We didn't even dig one that big to bury my cat when he passed!

Just find an out of the way spot in your garden, dig a hole large enough to accommodate the little lizard body and bury the poor little creature. This is not rocket science....... :-) Just the natural order of things.

^Good advice. We're in SoCal and have them running all over the place. I'm always concerned about running over one on the driveway, but that's never happened. They're very quick about getting out of the way, even when it seems they won't. The other day I found the tiny skeleton of one in the bottom of an empty pot. They're interesting to watch, especially when they look like they're doing push-ups.

If you are really worried about this, maybe dig a gallon sized hole and plant something on top of it? His little body will give the plant nourishment and you can remember him with a nice plant!

Thanks, gardengal, chloebud, and nancyjane - about a half hour after I posted, I gathered my strength (I am a bit of a wimp I guess), and I did go out and bury him a few inches down. It wasn't that bad. (I will spare people the gory details, but the last couple of years, there has been way more "Mutual of Omaha" tv show moments in the yard than I am used to ... though, I suppose, they do lend perspective. Time flies.)

Then, the other day I saw ... something came and dug it up. Trying not to think too much about it. So, well, at least it had some dignity for a little while. So that is what happened with that.
