Contact your county extension service. If they no longer provide soil test (many offices do not), then they can direct you to a lab that will. Note that most soil tests will focus on nutrient and chemical issues. Soil diseases or potential soil contamination issues require separate and very specific testing and are $$.

It might be too late, but if the county extension service uses TAMU for testing, TAMU has a long historical record of producing wrong results. If you want to stick with a Texas soil test lab, there's Texas Plant and Soil Lab or for much, much less, there's Logan Labs in Ohio, or UMASS in Massachusetts. These are professional labs serving the world and take good care to give good results.

Many people in Texas lose trees due to them being buried too deeply in the soil. The bark on the trunk is below grade and it gets a fungus which girdles the tree. We had such a tree at the new house in San Antonio last year. We caught it in time, though. Here's the evidence.

See the little tree in the center of the picture. It was buried too deep, so we pulled away the soil down to the roots and a year later it looks like this...

Obviously we're doing a lot of landscaping and hoping to save a lot of water with the process, but the tree has tripled in size in 12 months. We mulched it and pulled the mulch away from the trunk.

Perhaps if you have remaining trees you should check them to see if they are too deep in the soil. They should have roots exposed like this...

Well, maybe this is extreme, but you get the idea. The bark on roots is meant to live underground but the bark on the trunk must be above ground.
