Panel ready built in fridge help

Attached is a partial rendering from my KD. We have 9’ ceilings. 33” + 15” uppers stacked. Installing a subzero panel ready 42” French door fridge. There is a 3” gap between top of fridge and 15” upper cabinet. Frameless cabinets. KD wants to install a 3” filler in the gap. Upon further discussion, I think she wants to increase the upper cabinet above fridge to 16 1/2” and install a 1 1/2” filler above. Is that the correct solution? I was thinking upper cabinet could be 18” with no filler for an exact fit but she wants a filler in case the floor is uneven and ceiling height ends up not being 9’??? There will be crown moulding from top of cabinets to ceiling.

Is it standard practice to install fillers above built in fridge? I can’t find any examples of what this will look like with frameless cabinets (I have found a couple examples with framed cabinets).
