The outer petals seem to reflex backwards as well

Did you send a picture to the seller and see if they can identify it?

It is really a lovely rose.

What did you order and where did you order from? It could be a rose that was next to yours alphabetically.

I also think it’s a really pretty rose and if it s fragrant I migh need to look into it!

I was planning on contacting the seller on monday. it was supposed to be Variegata di Bologna, which it clearly is not

Whatever it is, it's beautiful.

I have a similar problem-I ordered a rose that was supposed to be Pacific Dream, but they sent me a pale pink one that might be some OGR. I wrote to the seller about the problem but they have not responded. I'll try phoning them...

I wonder if stripey-ness is always stable in roses.

I have the same problem with a rose I ordered this year from Greece, Avramis' Pink Ekrixis. I'm pretty sure they sent the right rose, ummm ...except it doesn't have stripes! I do get a single stripe per flower every now and then, but nothing like the beautiful stripey, mottled design on the seller's pictures.

I also wonder if soil, temperature etc can affect whether stripes are expressed.

Seaside, temps/weather conditions can indeed influence things like that.

It's SO disappointing to get the wrong rose, although you may have actually gotten a desirable rose by mistake, I hope it will grow on you.

Variegatta di Bologna is a pretty spectacular rose in bloom with a wonderful fragrance. Mine only bloomed a few short weeks, and I couldn't keep such a brief blooming rose in my small garden. It was very sad to give it up.

I don't know what to make of the striped once bloomers- If i ever had the space Commandant Beaurepaire looks nice. It is said to have a few scattered blooms after the main flush.

My Vick's Caprice arrived from ARE a few weeks ago. On HMF I read it may revert back to a solid color too.

Thanks Magpie, that's good to know! I hope it eventually gets to be the right weather for her to show her stripes. If not I might try contacting Avramis to ask them if they have any suggestions.

Pink Ekrixis is a sport, but unlike Variegata di Bologna, the original Ekrixis is striped and splotched too, just a different background color (burgundy) so at least I know it's not a reversion... Wait and see I guess!

Maybe that's what keeps me intrigued by gardening; I can't always control the outcome and there will be some unexpected surprises.

I was looking at the seller's website ( i like this company so i would rather not say where I got it from) and saw a picture of Souvenir du President Lincoln, which happens to be the rose next to Variegata di Bologna when you have the page filtered to show just the Bourbon class. Could this be Souvenir du President Lincoln?

Back in 2013 I grew Souvenir du President Lincoln (own-root from Heirloom Roses), and your pic. looks like it. My Souvenir du President Lincoln's 1st bloom was VERY FRAGRANT, the scent is similar to Young Lycidas and Madame Isaac Pereire: it's old rose with a touch of raspberry.
