We were lucky. No power out here. A neighbour a couple of houses away had a white pine break off and fall on their roof. I was very glad we had the ash tree removed in March. I suspect some or all of that might have ended up on our roof if it was still in place! I hope all the rest of our 'regulars' are safe and not had too much damage in the garden.

I saw this on the news. Here in Windsor we had some wind and rain but nothing like what you got. How did your Hostas make out? My son was on the road near Kitchener and said he had never seen anything like it. Windshield wipers going at top speed and he couldn't see a thing. Glad to hear that you got your power back. Such strange weather events now. Ugh!

woody I am relieved that you had no damage or loss of power, shame that your neighbour did not fair as well. Good timing on the Ash removal! You must have felt much safer with it gone. I had to remove a huge cedar hedge a couple of years ago that was a danger to the house. I know I was relieved once it was down.

Barb I am glad you escaped the brunt of it. Thankfully my Hostas and all other plants were fine. Many are just pips or unfurling but the fully leafed out ones were unaffected. I am surrounded by forest which helps. I was concerned about them because they were calling for nickel sized hail, thankfully that never occurred. I am just happy your son made it through the storm. I would not have wanted to be on the road in it. Such a relief to have the power back. A friend called me last night from Quebec and he is still out. The weather has been crazy. It has been a very cool spring in general but then a few days near 90C and back to cool. So many strong weather events worldwide.

Wow, glad you guys are ok! There was a tornado that ripped through a northern lower MI town a few days ago, not sure how many died but it was destructive and deadly.

Wow!! Had not seen or heard of this in the states, but nicholsworth, I am sooo happy you and others are ok. The loss of a roof or tree is one thing, but loss of life is another……barb, very happy your son is safe and sound! And yes—— Mother Nature is powerful and it just seems she is not happy with us humans at all. I saw a video on the weather channel of the terrible sand storms they are having in the middle east. Here, I am praying for rain…….🙏🏽

We really appreciate that mxk. They are classifying it as a rare 'derecho'. They know of 10 that have died and there could be many more. I hope the town in Michigan fared better....so sad.

Debra she is definitely on a rampage. I just read that it hit Maine after it was done with us. I sincerely hope that it had lost strength by the time it reached them.

peren & djacob, thanks for your concern - scared my son but I don't think it lasted long.

It was Gaylord Michigan where the tornado touched down and killed 2 people. Excessive waterfall and high winds blowing lake water ashore have been concerns in our area and my husband just finished a water drainage project in our backyard as well as a new sump pump plus a battery backup sump pump. You do what you can to protect your home and property and gardens.

Glad you're all safe, and didn't have too much damage.

I’m shocked to hear that there are still people without power after this storm. That would be devastating. Our sump pump is electric. Not to mention freezers!

north it is shocking. The damage was so severe that there are areas that could be 2 wks. or more still. A staggering number of hydro poles were snapped and also the huge towers down. Add to that all the downed trees that need to be dealt with before repairs can begin.
