Bathroom update
Comments (10)Yes, I agree with Christine. If you need the cabinet for storage, is it possible to raise it, sand it, and paint it white..along with the vanity drawers, front? The right paint color in here would go a long way. Consider a new towel bar and another location for it, a new toilet paper holder and mount it closer to the toilet and out of sight. I see that your door hardware is of a bright brass color, but you could still pull off another finish for the fixtures--something bright and fresh like polished nickel would be nice. This all might be more than you bargained for, but I think would make a huge improvement. Check out home depot for affordable fixtures....See MoreTricky Bathroom Update for my Son & Daughter
Comments (10)Have you looked at gel stains? Let me share my experience -- I painted our bathroom vanity a warm grey. I researched and followed the correct process. It looks great .... unless the kids touch it. Then it likes to chip. I even put a poly top coat on it, but I still need to keep little jar of touch up paint handy. The vanity was a test before I tackled the kitchen. Realizing I didn't want chipping paint in the kitchen, I explored other options and discovered gel stain. I prepped our old honey oak filing cabinet and applied an espresso gel stain. I LOVE the results. It has proven much more durable than the paint and was easier to work with. I know people successfully paint cabinets. My experience just wasn't something I want to repeat and a friend who painted her kitchen cabinets had a similar experience. (BTW, I used General Finishes "Java" gel stain that I found at my local woodworking store.)...See MoreDo these things go together? Bathroom updates ok
Comments (16). Somebody said I would not like it wood-look accent wall in 3 to 5 years. Is that a durability/maintenance issue or assuming that It will go out of style and or that my test will change (Both of which I do believe are important considerations!) Like I said in your other thread, it's already mostly out of style. It was big 3-5 years ago. Now even here in FL no one is choosing to put wood look tile in anymore. Stick with the marble floors, the white cabinet, and the marble countertop. Then use the opportunity to paint the room a dramatic color instead. Or find a stunning and bold wallpaper that is contemporary to tie it all together....See Moresmall bathroom update
Comments (2)I say NO to an “enclosed wet space” unless it is a simple enclosed shower. 4’x4’ is a good size. You need a toilet, too....See Morejbella2012
