I did a scrape test and it’s green. Should I leave it potted for now?

Or just return it and by a more lively one?

It is real concerning there's no leaves on it. If they have better looking ones you should return that one for one that's more alive.

you plant trees in DORMANCY ... so dont go get one that broke dormancy.. WTF.. lol ...

plant it.. facing away from the sun .. and dont bother staking it.. thats how redbuds grow ... many plant it slightly askew.. if you want it more upright ....

they reseed rather freely on my 5 acres.. i have moved many that size.. i might be tempted to call them bulletproof ...

Pretty sure if that tree was going to break dormancy it would've already. LOL

It should certainly have flowers by now I think. Leaves have not emerged on mine yet but should within days I think...

• ken - ‘bulletproof’ would not be a good description around here - they have an unfortunate tendency to die in winter! Also, they have a tendency to fall over. In March we finally decided to have the leaning side of one pruned off- it had been propped up by a 2x6 for several years. Our redbuds are white-flowered ones. I do love them but they are a bit of a PITA at times :-)

My wife was so happy with the deal that she went and brought home another one. But that sucker has branches that are snapping like twigs. So that the dead duck is going back LOL

Got rid of the Charlie Brown variety and got this one. The question is still to steak or not to steak? It’s going on the highest point in my backyard and will catch quite a bit of wind. With that being said is there a chart somewhere that shows the predominant prevailing winds in my area?

I love how my transcription spelled steak in this instance. A steak of that variety probably cost more than this tree at this point in time

Heat index in the 100’s next week so I’d like to wait to plant this. Any harm in keeping it in the pot another week or so? Or should I just plant it and water thoroughly next week?
