Anybody grow Blossomtime?

I picked up a "body bag" Blossomtime rose this early spring at Home Depot - I should know better than to do this, but I'm always at a weak point at that stage, desperate for spring! Anyway, I potted it up and it has done really well. Now I'm trying to figure where to put it, but I really don't have a good sense of its habit. HMF says it has a height of 4-15 feet - which seems pretty unhelpful, like it could be almost anything. I also see that it is a seedling of New Dawn. While I love New Dawn, it is for me a huge thorny thug, best located in a wild spot in the garden (it is also really shade tolerant for me, so this works well). Does Blossomtime have a similar habit, or is it more well-behaved? How about thorns and shade tolerance? Any advice appreciated, thanks!

I grew Blossomtime many years ago. It’s a small climber or shrub, maybe about 6 feet, not at all a giant like New Dawn. Wonderfull rose, petal packed , fragrant with good repeat. I think it came along before its time, now that petal packed fragrant shrub roses are so popular.

I know several of people on this forum still grow Blossomtime, hopefully they will chime in.

That's a pretty cool body bag find, actually.

I grew Blossomtime until gophers got it. It was a wonderful modest sized mound.

My Blossomtime is young and got mildew her first season-she is in one of my shadier spots because I read she can handle some shade and my sun spots are rapidly disappearing.

I don’t have a lot of helpful information but she does seem fairly vigorous and has a decent amount of thorns but not too crazy.

I’m trying to train it to a wallgrid on the fence and it seems somewhat ok with that plan. It is one of the ones eaten by deer earlier in the season and is bouncing back nicely.

I have had mine for quite a few years and it was a body box rose from Home Depot! I have an own root one as well and it does very well own root as well as grafted. My original plant has been in a good bit of shade. A little less shade now since we cut down a big maple tree .

It grows and blooms in some shade though I think it's more bs prone in shade.

It is one of the prettiest climbers in my opinion. To me it's pretty thorny. Mine covers one side of an arch though would be fuller in more sun.

If you really got Blossom time you got super lucky. It is a gorgeous rose. Mine is in part shade and does well. It is 5 feet tall after 4 years. It does not want to climb for me. I hope you got the correct variety, I haven’t had much luck with body bags at my local places.

Thanks for all the wonderful responses! I do hope it turns out to be Blossomtime, sure looks like a beautiful rose from the gorgeous pictures. I've had mixed luck with body bags, which is just another reason why I really should try to resist them, but on the other hand I've also had some wonderful successes, so .... anyway, it sounds like I don't need to worry about Blossomtime being a thug on the order of New Dawn!

Here in zone 6 Cincinnati blossom time has been a great bloomer. 1 of my favorite roses for looks. It is thorny like all roses but not excessively so. It does not grow huge here and does experience some die back. Not at all on the scale of new dawns size. I have never had a good spot for it that received sufficient sun so it is going to my friend's garden soon where I will visit it. Where I have it is on a north face and shaded corner it gives me terriffic spring bloom and sporadic bloom after that as it reaches for the sun. Whether its due to the poor positioning or just the variety, it does get black spot. Never having had her in sun I can't report on her health definitively.
