It depends entirely on how dried out the trees got. And what kind of trees and where you are located.

I would say chances are slim to none that they will recover if they look like that now.

If you're going to try to revive them, the first thing you need to do is remove the strangling green tapes. The function of the phloem can be restricted to the point of plant death.

And don't remove all of the dead leaves. They will fall off if the plant ever begins to grow a new batch of foliage. What kind of trees are they?

They're photinia trees. Look really nice when flowers blossom I see some life in a few leaves (I see some slight green). I'll see if it'd continue to get better as I continue to water the trees.

I wonder if I plant the trees back on the ground it'd recover better.

under severe stress many plants.. including trees can shed all their leaves.. and then releaf .. ergo.. do not start cutting on the thing for the rest of the season ... if later the pieces still appear dead.. well.. dead is dead.. and start pruning ...

i would leave it int he pot.. learn to water it properly for a tree.. and plant it in the next proper planting season.. a tree that is trying to releaf.. should not be stressed more.. by repotting or planting now .... see link below..regarding timing.. and everything else ...

Photinias are evergreen shrubs. The fact that ALL the leaves are dried, brown and dead is not a good prognosis for their recovery and continued well being, I'm sorry to say. Broadleaved evergreen trees and shrubs rarely ever come back from that condition.
