Yoshino cherry tree in dry weather?

last modified: 4 years ago

Hello! so I recently (and impulsively) bought a baby (8-12 in. tall) Yoshino cherry blossom tree and was wondering how it would perform here in Southern California (zone 9B). This will be my first tree I have ever grown! =). Where I am located I get coastal fog, more rain than the average area in socal (still goes completely dry for a time however), and intense sun. From what I was told upon purchasing it grows well here and fast.. however after researching some websites say they wont work. Some say they do. this has left me very confused. Any thoughts or opinions are appreciated!
