Perhaps a Billbergia of some species ?

i dont understand the facts ... it was in flower when you got it.. presumably from a greenhouse grower.. and nothing since ...

its not uncommon that houseplants dont bloom much in the usual house ... they prefer perfect conditions across all plant cultural variables to be happy enough to bloom ....

It does look like some type of bromeliad. I've never seen one with curled leaves like that, but there are many varieties.

Bilbergias and other bromeliads don't bloom constantly, but at various times of the year, IMPE. I have a number of them that bloom a few times yearly - usually in fall, winter & spring.

P.S. You can divide them. They look a bit crowded.

Typically the reason given for the occurrence of curled leaves in a bromeliad is an indication of a watering anomaly....usually not enough.

See if Billbergia nutans matches the bracts you had. Was it bought for you or regifted?

Thanks for the input; I don't think it's Billbergia nutans. The original purchaser doesn't remember the name. I tried to show a closeup of a bract below. They were bright red when I got it, but are now just tinged with red. I'll try dividing them.

FWIW, Bilbergias have very distinctive flowers. I use them as cut flowers, since mine are outside in the ground.

Looks a bit like this Guzmania that showed up a few years ago.
