Clumps, Duos and a Purple Parade

I was disappointed that there were so many storms in the vicinity, but we got only a quarter inch of rain. It was probably just enough to wash my deer deterrent off and start some new weeds. I'm crossing my fingers for more rain this week.


Aerial Applique made a pretty clump this morning. There were some imperfections on the blossoms because of the rain, but not many.



Busy Being Fabulous had a foursome.


Cameroon NIght is back to being tall (36+ inches) after several years of having 24-inch scapes. The grubs must have feasted elsewhere last fall.


Kara Louise with a duo. There was a third bloom, but it was too far away to get in the frame.

This is my cream yellow seedling with the green sheen. In the past, it's had six-way branching and 28-41 buds. It will come nowhere near those stats this year. Drat that lack of May rain. It's been a good multiplier.

    Love that Jungle Queen X Applique 2 seedling…..does it have a bitone look all of the time? I inderstand the disappointment with your cream yellow seedling, had that happen with some registered ones I have. it gets extra points for multiplying quickly

    Sherry - I think the spray I use for deer deterrent is causing the bitone look on that seedling and a lot of my other daylilies.

    I realize that having a yellow base color gives Busy Being Fabulous a head start in my book, but aside from that your picture of it is wonderful and I hope it keeps on producing for you..........Aerial Applique looks great in a clump and your purples look promising. I grew Alan Lane Agin one year and liked the color. I would have liked to see how it developed on it's own (not for hybridizing in my case) over the years but it didn't make it over that one bad winter we had. Glad to see it living on in its children...............Maryl

    Maryl - I wondered what happened to your Alan Lane Agin. I remember your nice photos of it. I lost mine after just one year, and it was in the ground. I think the grubs ate it.

    The 1st 2 clumps are just gorgeous. I find myself really charmed by Busy Being Fabulous, despite it not being my usual color choice. Still love Kara Louise, and the Jungle Queen seedling. Sure hope you get some of this rain. Looked like you might get more of it than me later this afternoon. Good luck!

    The blooms are really starting up now, aren't they Debra? And Both Aerial Applique and Busy Being Fabulous we lovely clumps. Kara Louise almost always has at least one bloom here still and it is a welcome sight. Men in Black; dark ones with white edges are so pleasing to me. Both of the Alan Agin seedlings are beauties. Very pretty post.

    I just like all of these! The clump shots are so pretty. Seedlings look good. Your cream seedling is showing that greenish sheen that makes it so pretty. I hope your later plants and seedlings have a higher bud count. Lack of rain will do that.

    Busy Being Fabulous is fabulous. As usual, your seedlings are beautiful, but the one I like the best is (Alan Lane Agin X Cosmic Sensation) X Betty Bush. I like the rich color, watermark, and the teeth.
