Where is your architect or builder.? How do you KNOW you are moving HVAC,,,,,,? Is this remodel or new build ?

Show the plain in its entirety, not just the master suite. Please.

I’m adding the width of my house. Adding a laundry room, living room, kitchen and master. I figured I would put the ac handler in the new laundry room and leave the condenser on opposite side of the house. Half of my kitchen will be a pantry and remove the other half for walk through.

I would create a new hallway to the master from the existing rather than off the kitchen. What is the intended use of the old kitchen and living room? When you enter the house through the front door what will you be walking into if not the living room? Did you want the master bedroom off the back of the house in the new addition? I think this needs a bit more thought on what will happen to the old part of the house to make it make sense with the new add on.

We’re knocking down the wall where the old dining/kitchen is. And old living room will be the new dining area and part of the old kitchen to a walk-in pantry.

Having the master suite directly off the kitchen will provide zero privacy. It's a very bad idea. Plus the poorly laid out bath is in the corner where there is opportunity for windows and light from two directions. I would strongly suggest moving the bedroom to the corner and having the bath and closet between kitchen and bedroom. Put the hallway along the top of the plan with windows.

Your bathroom has space to expand the shower a good bit. Remember…the more glass in the shower walls, the more to squeegee after each shower. A real hinged door between the bathroom and the bedroom will keep almost all the moisture and steam from the bathroom from migrating into the bedroom. Include an exhaust fan in the bathroom. Be sure each person has a bank of four drawers in their portion of the vanity/sink cabinet for their personal storage needs. I recommend a separate mirrored medicine cabinet for each person, whether on the side walls or over the sinks.

Yes and maybe I should add a pocket door. Didn’t think of that.

The length of the hallway will be whatever your bath and closet layout dictate.

Vicky, this plan and your explanation is confusing. Are you combining two apartments?

In any case, to avoid noise from the adjoining rooms, you need to create a vestibule before entering the bedroom. Here's a plan to consider.

The bedroom remains the same size, but you do not need to have a bathroom with so much non functional space.

My current 1957 home is 990 sq ft and we want to do an 1K sq ft addition. Most important to me is to have a true master bedroom suite w/ bath and adding a larger kitchen w/ island, living room and indoor laundry room.

Now I understand.

Consider keeping the kitchen in the original area and make the new addition the living room only. Once you remove the existing kitchen walls and the hall closets adjacent, the space will be sufficient for a large kitchen with island and dining.

I have an issue with the kitchen near the master because of the noise and smells.

I like the new plan EXCEPT for the fact that the bedroom door is still off the kitchen.

My personal opinion and I would like you to put yourself into any situation with young children at night and one is sick.

I still feel that the bedroom door should be through a hallway roughly where the bathroom is. Move the bathroom over to create a hallway to the master. Make the pantry a reach in instead of a walk in. Same amount of useable space in less square footage or put the pantry someplace else.

Agree with above. I suggested a month ago that bedroom and bath should be switched for multiple reasons, not the least of which are privacy and light. Did you ever have your designer draw up a plan reflecting this?
