I really do not know what you are asking. For sure we need pics from further back to see all the itmes you are asking about in stalled already in the space .

If you mean a flat stone veneer applied to the surface of a concrete retaining wall, yes, that is a common application. Lots of examples if you do an image search.

I am less clear about how you intend the bench to be incorporated but that can be done as well, using the top of the wall as a seating platform, if you will.

@gardengal48 (PNW Z8/9) @Patricia Colwell Consulting Imagine a paver patio that is only five foot by five foot. At the front of the patio is a walking path used to enter the patio. On all of the other sides there is a garden. Functionally, the patio wants to be a small conversation area. But adding benches within such a small space would rob all of the patio space and block the view of the gardens on either side of the back edge.

Given that background, what I was proposing was to make the stone wall that separates the paver patio from the garden into a bench. That way the wall acts as a patio border but also is more functional as seating, and it does this while also preserving the full space of the patio.

I could not find a single example photo showing this done with real stone, which would naturally have varying thickness. That might imply that it is not done very often, or it might imply that it is technically difficult to do. The real stone applications I see online are all either stacked stone, using slabs, or walls made from dry-laid stones.

And I would suggest you perhaps didn't look hard enough. There are many examples of walls with a natural stone (not cast concrete) facing. And yes they do vary in thickness, are extremely labor intensive and time consuming to construct, need the attentions of a skilled mason and tend to be pretty expensive......several hundred dollars per lineal foot.

@gardengal48 (PNW Z8/9) I need to cover five linear feet and about 15 square feet of surface area. So this might be the rare case where a minimum daily charge for a good mason still covers the price of a higher-end construction method. I could also use a cheaper resource to construct the rectangular wall with standard concrete blocks, then hire the expensive mason to do the surface masonry work.
