Well, it’s certainly a Cornus And possibly C kousa. If it’s been badly pruned or cut back by some event such as extreme weather it could have become shrubby, rather than small tree. Not flowering proves nothing either way.

From what I've read, it CAN be more of a shrub and where it's located, very close to a Crab, I believe it should remain a shrub. It's getting very large though, so now I'm wondering if I keep it cut back to a smaller size, will it ever flower? I'm not a newbie to gardening but there are many plants in this yard that are new to me...I've had Dogwoods but never a Kousa. Learning about new plants is FUN! Thanks for your help!
