Yep, my Beckys seem stunted as well, and they are usually quite tall by now. Mine are budding up, though, so I’m not sure what to think. I have them positioned behind heliopsis Tuscan Sun, and you can’t even see them, they’re so short. They’re in full sun and they’ve certainly received enough water with all the rain we’ve had this spring.

So it's not just me, then...

i always think of daisy's as hot house babes.. meaning... they like it hot.. bloom in july/august ...

i think.. one night last week.. it actually fell into the high 40s ... that aint hothouse temps..

ergo.. my theory.. they dont like cold nights ..

im sure that will be ending for us.. and would expect in the next few weeks.. as soil temps rise.. they will catch up ..

all that.. or else they were freaked out the day the earth stopped.. because you walked out of a nursery without buying anything .. lol ...

Ken, I hope you’re right! One clump of Beckys seems to be catching up for lost time, but I have two very short clumps that really need to start doing their thing. They were besieged by snails and also four-lined plant bugs, so I took care of those with Sluggo for the snails and my pincer move for the insects….I squished dozens of them and their red nymphs a couple of weeks ago. So many garden pests this year!

I have some budded Beckys that are only a foot tall. Others are normal height and some are blooming. Very strange!

Thank you, mxk3! It’s a full sun bed - like eight to ten hours of full sun - and gets ample irrigation (twice a day on these 90 degree days).

The last couple of days I swear I’ve spent all my time watering my perennial beds and vegetable gardens. Next year I‘m converting everything to drip irrigation; usually I enjoy watering with the hose, but not when it’s hot like this, ugh.

A favorite combo of mine is *tall* annual ageratum with Becky shastas; the ageratum here are "Blue Planet": (this bed is a lot more filled in now -- I need to snap some new pics!)
