I didn't see a picture, but unless you paid a lot of money for it, it's hard to kill a hosta. It will probably look woeful for the rest of the year though, but will bounce right back next spring

That's better than I expected, it will be fine and might even put out a few fresh leaves this year.

Seems like your plant is under stress due to the division, the heat and the move. It may also be that the plant was originally in more shade than it is now and it is having a hard time adjusting to more sun? It is tough on hosta when they are divided during a heat wave. I would move it into a shady spot or pot it up and put the pot in the shade until you can plant it.

Can't tell from the tops/leaves, but they used to ship hostas by mail that looked like celery stalks with no leaves. As long as you were able to get lots of roots in each division, and plant it in a happy place with lots of water, don't worry about it. Mark the spot and see what comes up in spring, it will probably surprise you!

Yeah IL was hit hard with hot days recently, lots of cool weather , rains and low sun and then...95... i would put chair over it to provide shade.

A chair or an umbrella to provide shade.

forget about the damaged leaves .. but understand.. as long as there is green tissue .. lets say undamaged tissue.. its converting sun to energy.. to grow new roots ... for the future .. so dont go cutting them off..no matter how ugly you think they are .. unless the totally crisp brown ...

also.. you changed the sun/shade variable.. that probably is part of this ...

focus on those couple new leaves down int he middle.. they are coming out after the event.. and with lots of water.. and they should be the future ..

i like rho's lawnchair idea... especially if you can secure it so it doesnt fall over in the first wind ...

I get asked often "can I move....." and the answer is always "Depends on if you care what it looks like for the rest of this growing season". It will survive!! Next year it will be decidedly smaller than it is but give it the year and it will regain it's size and beauty.

As ken said, as long as there’s new leaf down in the middle, that’s good! Try an umbrella, Former yard sign of some event, even boxes can provide shade for burning hostas. I currently have all three!
