That could be a fasciated scape.

By the way, not sure you meant that this is hosta June. Looks like Guacamole.

Thanks so much for the answer. I knew there was a word for it but it's been so long I couldn't dredge it up!

It could absolutely be Guacamole, I inherited a number of Hostas when we bought this house and there were markers on some, but had obviously been disturbed by varmints and such. That bed had 5-6 hostas still surviving and 3 tags in the vicinity. This one was also a very different color before I moved it to this spot.

It might also be Stained Glass. Stained Glass turns more yellow in the center than Guacamole would.

See those darker leaves at the bottom? That’s the base of this hosta.

Annette, keep a nose on the flowers when they open up. If you smell fragrance it's likely 'Stained Glass', as NHL said. It certainly is NOT 'June', the leaves are too shiny for it to be 'June'. The growth you are seeing are technically referred to as "leafy bracts", I have a 'Sunset Grooves' doing that right now. Odds are you will not see this again next year on this plant.

It reminds me of the flower brach I had on Rainforest Sunrise last year. It was the first season it flowered, so I didn’t know if that was normal or not. No problems with the plant this year but it hasn’t started a brach yet.
