Yea. We had a similar spot like that. Not ideal but they did this🤷‍♀️ignore the dust and nicks.

How about… bringing that little piece that wraps around… a bit past the stair an inch or so from the top all the way to the one below. I think they should make it go around the stair tread….Not sure if I’m describing it right… I’ll try to draw on your picture.

I would entertain the idea of not doing the return. I think it might be less visible, but the downside is that it could look less finished.. it’s a clean, modern baseboard, I would try to not complicate it. Is your wall corner slightly rounded/angled, I cannot tell…?

Feels a bit big. Was the carpenter against doing an inch? Could he cut that smaller?

The wall corner isn’t rounded. And you are right that our look is clean and modern. Trying to find the cleanest look but it’s hard with this baseboard.

I’d see if they can keep getting smaller and smaller….might solve it🤞 if it’s just a sliver.
