Keeping untreated metal looking this way will be a challenge. I wanted to try that picture book patina for my steel columns in the house and tried several options - including waxing them. nope - little bits of surface rust were evident after a few days.

Use the big tile.

Corten steel made to patina and if that is the look you want that is what I would use but it would be nice to get some idea of the space .

Yes that's Corten steel but it will continue change color.

See Daley Plaza in Chicago. Building and Picasso sculpture are both Corten steel.

IMO, tile that looks like metal will be a better solution for a bath. These look amazing at least on the website.

Coreten should not be used if you want to scrub / clean it. It ages to a nice rusty coating - but it should be OUTSIDE.

I do a fair amount of metal work. If you want to pursue this, Penetrol (the paint additive from Flood) is my #1 go to for sealing steel. I little goes a long way. If you're working with raw material, detail/patina it as you desire. When ready, clean it with an acetone rub down to remove any grease/oil/residue. Then brush on the Penetrol. I use a chip brush. A little Penetrol goes a long way, you want to apply it thin with no runs/drips or puddling. Any excessive thicknesses/runs/puddling can cure into a sort of gummy blob. Do a thin coat and a few days later a second thin coat if desired.
