We still own all the furniture and have had the pieces for 10-12 years. I am getting a few things reupholstered because we moved and built a new house, so I decided to change some of the fabrics.

Some of the stores you mention have both good and bad...I love my pottery barn turner leather sofa, but absolutely hate the dining table and the finish issues. Both are 5 years in my house. I love my leather Ethan Allen recliner, again around 5 years old now. You may have to research individual pieces.

We recently bought several sofas from Cococo Home out of NC and have been really happy with them. Lots of customization options wirh length, depth, fabric/leather etc

I've had good luck with Room & Board for leather and fabric seating. Best to get a sample because they are all different depending on the fabric/leather manufacturer (and every household tortures furniture differently).

I like their case goods too. If you order "walnut" it's walnut and not something weird stained walnut color. :)

Another happy Room and Board customer. I bought the Dean sofa and Andre chairs (around 2015 or 2016) and the fabric still looks great. I bought the Jennings bed in 2020 (unseen since it wasn't carried in the closest store 2+hrs away). Delivery service team is fantastic.

I'm sad. Mid-range furniture that lasts only 5 - 10 years? What has happened to furniture quality? All the best on your search, the places you mentioned are not inexpensive and to think they may not last longer than 5 - 10 years, so, so sad. Keep us posted on what you decide.

Another happy room and board customer here. We’ve had two chairs and a recliner from them for years, and they still look as good as the day they were delivered. For our new house, we’ve ordered a sectional and a new dining room table (we’ve been living with the teeny one we bought for our condo in Seattle 18 years ago). I love that you can get any fabric they carry on any upholstered piece - their fabric assortment is vast, and covers a variety of price points.

We recently furnished our Florida home. I will have 3 sofas. The Ethan Allen and one from Baers are in. Still waiting for Matters Bro.

The two we have been using now for 2 years. I have high performance fabric on both.

Each store has low to higher end furniture. We always only shop when there is a sale.

What stores are you near?

The other option is to research outlet stores that some name brand stores have. Or, find out when the showroom samples will be sold at reduced prices

I think Room & Board is high quality. Their "Dawson" fabric is not as pretty as thick weave fabrics, but it is still quite nice looking, really durable and easy to keep clean. It's kind of like outdoor fabric but feels softer. (And will soften even more over time -- I can tell from their floor model.)
