Was this space a porch at one time? Certain municipalities by code require a ceiling fixture. Not all rooms make sense with one. A living room is one of those for me. The only fixture that I would bother with is a fan which most people would say NO NO NO to. If not a fan then something you can barely see, like a can of some sort.

The entire space needs a re think. Add some recessed lighting, better lamp lighting, and paint out the dark trimwork. The roman shades are a better idea than the depressing wall of fabric panels. Add some COLOR to "mudville" please : )?

Paint the tv stand a lighter color. i said wow when I took down the heavy curtains.

I love the room! Looks super cozy and inviting. I have a couple lights here that I think would be interesting but I definitely also recommend a couple larger table lamps to go on either side of the sofa.

Yikes! The critics are harsh today.
