Not familiar with False Yellowhead so I looked it up. It has toothed leaves, so it’s not that. And I’m not aware of any Milkweeds with furry stems and leaves.

Looks like the milkweed family. You may have to wait for it to bloom.

You’re right. No Asclepias over here. I’ve only seen pictures. Is the scale right? The leaves look rather small. I’ll be interested to see how it turns out.

i dont know about milkweed.. but it sure looks like a butterfly weed seedling ... lol ...

and if so.. its a perennial... and should be back next year. unless you move it in fall.. or next spring ...

It’s clearly not a seedlng given the multiple shoots emerging from below the ground. As Tiffany implied, it is a returning perennial.

Butterfly weed (A. tuberosa) is a milkweed (plants of the Asclepias genus.) I'm not saying it is or isn't that. When you pull off a leaf, is there white sap inside? (It gives some people a rash.)
