Thats up to you four would be enough, youd need to blank the j box where the fan was and run romex from that. or you could cut out the box and stick a light there. I feel the center light would look weird personally.

I guess run 4 wafers in each corner and run the Romex from ceiling light to each wafer and cover hole with sheetrock.

The hole can't be covered with sheetrock if there are splices there.

I guess I'll have an electrician decide what to do. My brother is an electrician but was trying to get an idea of how to handle. If he splits 4 wafer lights off this then It can't be covered? I know once he adds the lights I'll have to go in by the attic and move insulation to get wiring through unless there's an easier way to run white for wafers

Only if the j box is accessible in the attic. otherwise, it needs to be accessable in the ceiling with a blank cover.

Are there fans there in addition to the broken one?
