The reasons for your curling leaves are one or more of the potential problems. Environmental stress (heat or wind), excessive nitrogen, viruses or herbicide drift.

Based on what I see and what you've told us first consider environmental stress from the heat but also consider the soil temperature in the bucket sitting out in the sun. Tomato plants can't handle soil over 95 degrees and the sun may be baking your roots, so I suggest shading the bucket from the sun.

Because I can't tell the exact color of your tomato plants or examine the leaves in person you'll need to decide if excessive nitrogen is the problem. Foliage shouldn't be dark green and should just be green, like any other common green leaves you'd normally see, and the leaves shouldn't look like thick leather. If they are take corrective measures by flushing the soil with water and consider backing off on the fertilizer.

So what are you feeding the plants?

They are nice and green no discoloration, I only use rainwater, but when I transplanted them outside I put them in menards brand soil that says enough nutrients for 4 mths. Also have peppers and sqaush their fine so hopefully just environmental.

Cherokee purples ARE dark green,........plus, the additional N from the stacked soil is a help. they're doing what tomatoes do, in high temps, they curl. keep them watered, on a biweekly basis, and enjoy the cheroke's fruits!

could be any number of things. i would check the moisture at the bottom of the bucket by drilling a 1/4-inch hole or 3 in the outside wall, at the bottom, above the floor of the bucket. if water doesn't immediately run out, take something like a bright dowel rod, DRY, and insert to other side to check for wetness.....could be too much water is drowning the roots. BUT, i suspect that it's heat from the concrete, and the reflective properties of your stark white fence. move the buckets off the concrete, and place in the yard, AND away from the fence. concrete both reflects sun rays, AND absorbs heat, so it's kind of a double whammy.

keep posting if you're plants keep changing. one FYI tho, the curled leaves tend to NEVER uncurl. new leaves come on, and take the flat positions though.
