Changing to 2 doors and it being off centre, although not symmetrical, will actually gift you a little area to one side which could be a small reading zone without covering the doors.

I think it’s fine where it is. We had a window changed into sliding doors going out into the garden. Absolutely love it. It also doesn’t impose on the kitchen or the garden. However, if you have the room to open double doors outwards that would be a fab option too. The window fitter just removed the lower bricks to accommodate the sliders, all done in a day and wasn’t too expensive, although it was a few years ago!

Think you’ve made great use of that space and double doors out to garden would look even better. Would you mind sharing dimensions of your kitchen? Wondering if same layout would work for us… 🙂

Will be ok if you balance elements to the right

Putting doors in the current spot would look fine and is a great idea. If you were going to change the position I wouldn't simply put the same size doors in the middle. Once you are messing with the weight bearing of an outside wall it would make sense to go the whole hog and make it a much wider opening and have bi-folds.

You could keep the door where it is, in the middle, and have full-length windows on either side to bring in lots of light - worth getting a quote at the same time if you like the idea

I don’t think it would look weird! @Jane Lee Interiors suggestion of side lights is a good one. Personally, if budget allow, I’d open up the entire width and install sliding doors.

Double doors opening outwards and flat against the house wall would look great. Not keen on sliding doors or bifolds. Your kitchen looks lovely.

I wondered if you could put upholsered bench box seating under the mirror that lifts for storage? the table could shift slightly to the left in line with the current opening perhaps…i’m guessing at the measurements.

I would bring the side left window down to table or seat height and have the door opening out.
