So sorry about your weather.. I was away for the weekend and hubby sent me videos of the rain we got! First in the month of June.

Your Ocean Spirit looks so much better than mine-small and bud drop factors in mine. An amazing photo of I’m Gonna Love You Through It and Rapture of Love-so pretty. The Color of Wonderful looks great in that clump.

Aside from the pots as usual, I'm having to water my beds about twice-three times a week now. All that rain in April and May is gone. It left me with lots of scapes and buds, but keeping them going until the blooms are over is another matter..........I think I said it, but if not, I lost Pink Aloha for the 3rd time this winter. I give up. It's not liking my pot system.......... I always like Empire of Desire - the color in particular. Am not a big fan of the sculpted form, but happy to see it grows so well for you.............Ocean Spirit is one of the few UF's that I always seem to like. It has a nice color and pattern in most photos..........Maryl

Kate - I'm so glad you finally got rain! I do love the blooms on I'm Gonna Love You Through It, but it's still at only three fans after several years. I may need to move it to another place to get it to flourish. It's always much taller than 26 inches here.

Maryl - That's so much for you to have to water. This year has convinced me I just downsize to a fewer number of daylilies. At my age, with my health issues, I can't weed and water all I have. Also, it makes me mad to see hundreds and hundreds of faded blooms when my coneflowers, Gloriosa daisies and balloon flowers look just fine despite extended heat waves. I'm so sorry you lost Pink Aloha again. Some daylilies just weren't meant for pot culture.

Goodness Debra. I do hope you get some relief. Your blooms show just how some daylilies can still shine even without rain. I'm not sure how the next couple of months here will be. The hottest months are still to come.Lovely pics but I do have a couple of favorites. Empire Of Desire, I'm Gonna Love You Through It,Lavender Evensong for Al and an old timer Light Of The World. Pistil Whipped has an interesting color blend. Nice photo of it.

Julia - It is amazing how some daylilies are just more drought tolerant than others. I remember what a nice clump of Light of World you used to show.

I think we are all dealing with weird weather cycles, keeping the gardens going is difficult for sure. what I have noticed in my gardens is for the most part my older cultivars seem to be more resilient. there are a few exceptions. It has me thinking what the future of my gardens will be with an aging gardenener doing the work .

Sherry - Some of my oldest cultivars have the worst foliage. Being domants, they want to go dormant in droughts to protect themselves. The Color of Wonderful performs well most years. It's in a area that is shaded for much of the day, so that area retains more moisture. I haven't watered that bed at all.

We're supposed to get rain this weekend. It is a cold front moving south, so hopefully it will come your way. Many nice blooms here. The Color of Wonderful is the biggest standout today.

You have a lot of tough beauties here, Debra. I especially like I'm gonna Love You Through It, Rapture of Love, Boundary Born, and both glorious clumps. Very nice indeed.

Brad - We have several days at the end of thise week and the beginning of next where there is aa 50 percent chance or less of getting rain. The Color of Wonderful is always a nice clump.

I'm Gonna Love you through It, Rapture of Love, Sword of Justice and Boundary Born are my favorites! Wonderful colors. I sure hope we get some rain! I have already lost 3 plants to the heat. I kinda wonder if watering with this kind of heat causes crown rot. Two were new this spring, 1, Allegheny Skyline, has struggled the last couple of years. I really liked that one, but guess I can live without it. Maybe...

Nancy - Hand watering probably does promote crown rot. I hope you will get rain in the coming days. I'm so sorry you lost Allegheny Skyline. It is a pretty one. Mine has lost most of its buds this season, and the flowers are only 2-3 inches and off-color. Sword of Justice, which has performed so wonderfully that past two seasons, seems like a shadow of its former self now. Scapes are short and buds are few.

Ocean Spirit looks great. Here, lots of bud drop, but it was divided last fall. I have pretty much given up on The Color of Wonderful. Parent Leslie Renee never did well here either. Your Empire of Desire always looks good.

Mantis - Why have you given up on The Color of Wonderful? Other than never being as tall as registered, it's grown like the energizer bunny here.
