wall does not have to be the full height. You already have nice doors. just do that style and boom you have a lovely office !

Looks like the doors that were used for the bathroom would be just what you need for an office. If they have glass in them the natural light will still get in the room.

Are there no other space options downstairs? Seems like a lot of expense for a computer table area.

Purchase a computer armoire, place it in that alcove. You can organize all of your bills and papers in there, shut the door when ur finished and look at a cute piece of furniture. Save the wall/door construction money and fill your tank up lol.

I would use a folding dividing screen. It would still give you the feeling of openness at the top, while providing a feeling of privacy. It can be as solid or open as you wish. That recess where the chair and lamp are looks like a good option. The lamp and chair can move to the fireplace area.

How about a fantastic great balloon chair? would it fit in the alcove with its back to the room? Private enough?

My other thought is a fantastic heavy drape, swagged, almost like an opera stage drape, to close off the alcove when needed. I would revove those french doors and replace them with sliders or folding doors. Put recessed lighting in the alcove

What paint color is behind your bed and what color paint is the rest of the room.....very pretty.

Do you live alone? If not, then how does the master/office combination work for your partner/spouse? If you are working late and they are trying to sleep I'm guessing that would present a problem with both noise and light. My best suggestion is to find another space in your home for your office - a space that is more enclosed and and farther away from sleeping areas.

Rhonda - The previous homeowner did not leave us with any of the paint colors, unfortunately! 😢( P.S. We have moved around a lot and we always leave new owners with colors. i know i have been greatful when they were left to me.)

although, the color does remind me of a color that a fabalous designer (LBG Interiors) recommended to me years ago - SW 7020 Black Fox.

In reading all the comments, i tent to agree with relocating the office. it isnt a short term option. However, we are in early stages of finishing the basement. Once completele, I will have two rooms available to Repurpose!

i might use the suggestion of a temporary blind for the short term.

Beautiful room. You have a natural height by aligning anything you do to the height of the door frame for continuity. Consider building a custom piece of furniture that is 2/3 the width of the opening. Install perpendicular to the door and leave the space where the sofa is located open. You will get the benefit of the window, seating and fireplace, tucking the office out of view and supplying privacy.
