Finally some rain in June

last modified: 4 years ago

I was away this weekend attending the College World Series baseball tournament and got to see my alma mater win the national title. That was fun! While people were celebrating outside the stadium on the plaza I was snapping pictures of the daylily plantings. Can you believe my friends made fun of me?!!!

These were so pretty-more blooms on the other side but you get the idea.

I also got my first June rain. (Maybe I should leave more often!!) Too late for many as the bud drop continued -my lates have suffered but

Laura Harwood never disappoints

Mister Green Jeans

Tahiti Sweetie

Hakuna Matata has finally bloomed-late this year

Monacan Trail-blooms are small and buds are sparse

Memphis on rebloom-still pale

Sweet Serenity

Voila Francois on rebloom

Women Seeking Men still looking good

Mean Green has been fabulous

Mean Green will win the Stout. Women Seeking Men can make a great display, but just takes so much space. Biggest clump shot of Laura Harwood I have seen.

Laura Harwood looks great despite the dry weather. I divided my Laura Harwood last season, hope it does ok this season.Mean Green looks like a great plant, I have not seen it in person.

I have dug and shared from that clump of Laura Harwood more times than I can remember and it just keeps on multiplying and never pouts.

Sherry, Mean Green is a great plant-that clump is two years old. And you can see Royal Girls peeking in from the side.

Good deal on the rain. I'd settle for a cloud passing by........Laura Harwood always looks so good for you and Voila Francois form is one of my favorites. It usually looks very white in photos, although I hear that in person it is not. Memphis is another one with wonderful round form with great edging.............We are just past peak here, so if I can keep the pots watered I may get by with not all that much bud drop (although I am starting to see some in the 100 degree heat).................Maryl

Mean Green is such a great plant. This is the 4th year for mine and I have shared it every year. It still has 11 scapes this year. Would have been massive if I had not divided. So great you got some rain. We might get some rain this weekend, but apparently the accumulated amount will be only about 1/4". But I will take what I can get! Sorry, .y mind always wanders. I love Tahiti Sweetie and Mister Green Jean's. I think I need the 2nd just for the name.

Glad you got some rain. Nice pics. Mean Green is a great plant and always did great for me in NY. Laura Harwood does like those hot temps you have. So glad I was able to bring Tahiti Sweetie with me to our new place. I split mine last fall and gave some fans away and then replanted the remaining two clumps and both are scaping now. One of my favorites and hopefully this year, I'll see all the scapes bloom and not have the deer issue.

Maryl-hoping you get clouds with rain in them!! My rain came just in time for the rebloom scapes. For me Voila Francos is very white-ish. That photo is exactly what I see but of course in other gardens and soil maybe it is different.

Nancy, I agree with you about Mean Green. It has so many buds and gives those amazing clumps every day and yes it does multiply like crazy.

Julia I look forward to seeing yourTahiti Sweetie-I think yours always looked a little different-mine is much darker or redder than I thought it would be.

Laura Harwood doesn't look a bit thirsty, just lush and gorgeous. Voila Francois always looks so perfect. Memphis looks lovely, and mine is still very light from the heat too.

Love the first three clumps! So pretty. Laura H does pretty well here but it is always short, so I clip back the leaves so I can see it better.
