It's got the Art Deco leaded glass look. Repro lamp bases easily are sourced. Was yours painted over?

Not sure about the dimpled glass.

The wiring...how would describe it? It seems a bit rough around the edges and maybe a rewire?

Going to follow along to see what houzzers come up with...Was it expensive? Auctioneers aren't stupid. I don't think you bought a Tiffany.

@elcieg Yes, we were also thinking it's a rewire. Paid £20 for it, quite a few people said afterwards they had never seen anything quite like it before! Hoping to find out as much as I can about this interesting piece :)

However it turns out you have purchased one fantastic, fun piece.

@elcieg Our base is not painted over, here's a close up of it and some writing we found close to the bottom. Tiffa-mini I believe it says?

And the inside of the lamp shade it's self is rather peculiar, the light doesn't actually come through the shade itself, there's a material on the inside that's blocking it.

Over all I bought it for it uniqueness and quirkiness! It's definitely a fun piece, no matter what it is! Auctions are truly fantastic, it makes my day to come across things like this!

Yes, it is Tiffa-mini. Search on that and you may find it.

Tiffa Mini, Meyda Tiffany, probably made between the 1970s and 1990s sometime. It may be painted out on the back because the decorative painted glass may not look so good lit up. Some of the paint looks pretty opaque.

@palimpsest The lamp backing is a material like gauze and was definitely added when the lamp was made, you can even see a strand of solder jumping across a corner of the fabric from one arm of beading to the next. We have tried to find a shade with this same material but are unable to do so :( Thanks for the info though, it definitely helps! I was thinking it may be there for the same reason, it just appears to be a strange choice...

I think it's a meyda base with a totally random hobby/ handicrafter shade.
