Thanks Jordon. Ok I dug one up but there are are few more in the wood that are small and at ground level. Is there an herbicide (used responsibly) that I can spray directly on it to kill it? Round up maybe?

Also, I can’t find a close up of the American bittersweet with the thorns; it would be nice to know the difference. Any close up pics would help.

One way to tell the difference is the location of flowers and fruit on the vine, with American at vine ends only and Asian in leaf axils.

That said, in my area of central NH I have only ever seen the Asian type.
