We have some areas to light in a new build that is now in design stage. A "modern" house with a single pitched roof. Over the kitchen area, the height of ceiling over floor ranges from 12 to 16 feet.

A render attached shows how we might get task lighting along the sink wall with the range in the corner to the right. Undercab lights, a sconce over the sink, and a hood with a bunch of lights in it.

But elsewhere, how well will cans with bright narrow spots work, the cans the type for swivel lamps which mount into a pitched ceiling? Depending on how high up and how much beam spread and lumens, can we expect to get some good general lighting from such cans and lamps? See the island. It is where we want some good task lighting, and we know the pendant is not going to give it.
