I prefer to give and use the botanical name. Morning Glory does not refer to a specific plant. Indeed it most often refers to various Ipomoea species.

Thanks for the idea, but I don't think it's Convolvulus arvensis. The leaves seem somewhat different. Also, we've had this weed for some years now, and I've never seen it bloom.

What are the roots like? Have you tried letting a piece grow to its full potential without mowing it? It must flower at some point.

Do you care what it is or do you just want to get rid of it?

floral_uk, all I see is a single white thin root. I assume that root is attached to a runner deeper down. We've had these weeds for years (this year, I've pulled out maybe 300 of them), and I've never seen a flower. It's grown as long as a foot before I've pulled it out. Despite the title of my post, this isn't really a vine, because it doesn't wrap around something else. It's really a trailing plant.

This is still bugging me. C arvensis leaves are hastate and variable and many are dead ringers for the ones on your plant. But the lack of twining is puzzling. I spent some time on Sunday examining C arvensis locally and am still stumped. This one is close but still not conclusive.
