I have 2 vacuflo units as the house is wide and I wanted 2 people to be able to vacuum. Another thing your brother should look at is HAH ... Hide-a-hose, where the hoses retract into the vacuum tubes. I have it with my vacuflo system and very happy with it. Also got the vacuflo with mufflers and it is very quiet.

Aerus is a great quality unit. The last one we installed she loved having the unit in the garage to use it there also.

Yes I gave my recommendation that he use some type of retractable hose system as we use our Hide a Hose inlet much more often than any of our standard inlets. I think he's still on the fence of whether or not to spend the money. We have used our system less and less over the years as cordless Dyson's have become more powerful and longer-lasting in terms of run time. We went from using it almost daily ten years ago to maybe once a week these days. Still, I don't think I'd ever want to be without one. They're unbeatable for heavy duty cleaning. He's currently using a Dyson ball upright and hates the tool set up on that machine.

The robotic vacs would not work for me as I have hand-knotted rugs in most rooms and when my DH tried one it started "eating" the edges of a silk rug! It would destroy fringe. Maybe there are better ones now?

I also have 3 dogs and much prefer changing that bag in the garage every 3 months than having to empty an upright vac or robot vac container every day. Two of the dogs are part German shepherd, so a lot of shedding!

Last one we had was an Electrolux.

So miss our central vacs!
