How tall? Do you spray?

Check out two new roses:

Sister Emmanuelle, aka Cathedral Bells: https://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=2.38937.1&tab=1 , it is as tall as the back of a bench, and the buds contrast beautifully with the flowers, the plant shape is def. that of a shrub, dark green leaves, very floriferous, super healthy.

a lighter pink, seems like it is going to stay a bit shorter, and more broad than tall; light green leaves, healthy.

I'm looking for around 3-3.5ft. I grow Seour Emmanuelle (shes a beauty) - but shes a "one cane wonder" for me, and roughly 4ft tall. Im going to look at Scentous right now!

Chartreuse de Parme would be my choice. I know it's not pink...but it's fabulous! It blooms a lot!

It would be bigger and look better for you, I'm sure. :)

Since you mostly named OGR forrm and lighter pink roses, I’d second the vote for Scentuous. Tons of blooms, excellent scent, nice shapely compact plant, no nodding heads

You won't lose with Quietness. No spray, vigorous, well scented and hardy as an oak. I recommend pruning it as one would a grandiflora, such as Queen Elizabeth, NOT as a shrub as it is classed. Do not prune Quietness such as one would normally prune one of the Knock Outs. Pruned that way it will grow into a giant jumbled mess with small blooms.

The only draw back is Quietnesses' individual blooms which are short lived, 3 days max. during summer's heat, longer by a couple days during cooler weather. The petals drop cleanly, though.

Another great, easy care rose is Elina. Its canes arch very slightly, but no neck nodding. The bloom is a, 'I want to look at you close up,' kind of bloom....perfect for next to a garden bench. Its huge bloom is a pale, but not sickly yellow.

Francis Meilland is a work horse. Possibly it's just what you want.

You can't go wrong with Fragrant Lavender Simplicity.

All the above roses are essentially no spray.

'Beverly' is a rose I added 3 years ago. The blooms are huge. I only use 'no spray' roses. The foiage has bee very clean. Like the old saying, 'The first year they sleep, the second year they creep ad the third year they leap.', this 'Beverly' was really hitting her stride this year for me. Fragrant, very large blooms and it looks like it's getting ready to rebloom too. The only drawback for me, is once it starts raining, it can make the blooms look a little less pristine. In my experience, which is limited, it's pretty difficult to find a perfect rose. There's always something that is a drawback.

The rose in the lower right corner is what some blooms look like after a rain, not as good as before it rained.

But you can see that all of these flowers experienced rain as they were starting to open and all ended up looking great.

Thank you all for the wonderful suggestions! I'm looking through hmf now to get a good idea of what I can make work out of what you've all given me.

Hopefully I'll make a decision rather soon, and have some nice pictures to share next season!

Rosecanadian - I'm smitten with Chartruese de Parme, I tried to order it 2 season ago and it had sold out. I've got my fingers crossed palatine will have it this year!

Ben - I'm looking this one up right now! I'm particularly fond of the OGRs and grow quite a few (my very favourite is Comte de Chambord), but this one i haven't seen before!

Moses - I knew I could count on your brilliance! I'm getting ready to look at all of these. I've wanted Quietness for years, I cant remember who posted it on here, it was a good 12 years ago or so, back when I just surfed posts. If only I could find it in Canada - or from someone who will ship to Canada.

Prairiemoon- Your Beverly is Stunning!!! I was thinking of this one, she is definitely on the list. I did have her last season, but she didn't make it through the voles.

I currently do not have Chicago Peace, so I have no photo to post for you of it. But that is the first one that comes to mind. It is a pink blend with huge flowers. If you grow and keep it healthy, it will be hardy.

My favorite pink rose is Earth Song. It is so vigorous, disease resistant, a Griffith Buck Rose so hardy with no winter cover, and a continuous bloomer. It will grow to 5-6' tall, and 4' wide. The roses are not themselves huge but numerous and have a fruity scent.

Thank you for posting Chicago Peace. As it is a rose that leans toward pink, and is large blooming, this is why I immediately thought of Chicago Peace. It has a traditional rosy scent, albeit a bit mild.

Mark...yes, very mild. :) It really is a winning rose.

Mark - I have not been able to keep a Chicago Peace alive thus far. Admittedly theyve been body bag roses, but they seem to hate the bitter chill of the lake (I am lake side).

I'm hoping to get one from Palatine or another reputable grower so I can give it a shot, it truly is a beauty!

Scentuous looks so so beautiful. Exactly the bloom form and color I want. Does anyone know if this rose can handle dry heat well?

Second Quietness recommended by Moses. Love love it. Such a beautiful light pink. The plant is very healthy and really a no spray rose.

Just shovel pruned Earth Song last weekend. I bought both Quietness and Earth Song from High country rose three years ago, and planted them side by side. While Quietness is so beautiful and healthy, Earth Song looks miserable once the summer begins. Blooms fried instantly and leaves were yellow and scorched. I guess it doesn't like our dry heat.

Scentuous just bloomed a tremendous flush during my Sacramento valley heat wave! Dry, hot , several days in the triple digits. This rose looks delicate but is tough as they come.
