Looks neat and clean. I'd add potted plants for some greenery near the house. Herbs near the kitchen would be appropriate, many do well in pots as long as they get sufficient watering.

I'd put a tree in for shade. Map out where your pool might be and plant your tree outside that area. Catalpas are pretty.

Have you considered a pergola?

A patio/deck/sunroom that faces west is essentially useless unless you have shade. While some type of shade cloth is better than the baking sun, nothing provides shade like layers of green. Plant at least two, or two groupings of small trees. In my zone there are many to choose from--Redbud, Flowering crabs, Serviceberry, American smoke tree (NOT smokebush), Black Haw (Viburnum prunifolium), Dogwood, and others. I would also plant at least one and probably two large trees at some distance so that down the road you have layers of shade.

That really helped me visualize.  Yes, I have thought of a pergola between the two structures,  so I'm happy with those suggestions.  I like adding some landscaping here too. We do have some trees a little farther out,  but could use a little more sun blockage closer.
