Does the house itself have a style? My last house was pretty contemporary inside a faux Georgian townhouse so the one panel shaker helped bridge the two, my current house is a 1950’s ranch so the flush slab is perfect. If you do go with a flush slab make sure to spec solid core not hollow core.

The house is a somewhat vanilla infill built back in 2000 with mostly builder-grade finishes (now dated and starting to show their age). We're renovating the upper level, and are moving towards a minimalist Scandinavian design (white walls, white oak flooring, chrome/gold fixtures, etc.).

We would love solid core doors, but we're not sure if the frames will support the weight (the existing doors are prehung hollow-core and we just want to replace the door slab without messing with the frames). Maybe it's possible though?
