I think it looks great. Darker shutters hung properly with shutter dogs would be all I recommend.

Restoring the front porch would be amazing, but most likely not practical. Shutter should be bigger, although I am not sure they would fit. Maybe reworking the middle plantings would help. I would even consider painting the foundation a very light blue.

If you repaint the house in white, consider a deep pine green for the shutters and door.

As a classic Dutch Colonial, you might want to play on the paint sites with a creamy yellow body color as well. Again, dark shutters and door (black, navy, deep pine greens) go with that era.
