Paint colour suggestions

I am looking for some suggestions to re-paint these textured walls. (The texture will remain because it is a heritage house and there is a story to them being made this way). The dining room furniture will stay and has a large south facing window on the east side of my house. The living room (everything in it is in transition) is also south facing but on the west side. The carpets in both rooms will be gone and are not staying. I have played with the idea of BM Pale Oak, muted neutrals/whites (farmhouse types of colours) but also am considering gold, green or tan. We get lots of cloudy days in the winter so it has to be a warm colour. Helpful advice would be appreciated. Have a great day.

If your goal is to not only freshen up your space but also to bring in a few updates giving it a new look, here are a few ideas. Simply white paint for walls, ceiling in matte finish and in pearl finish for woodwork, new more modern black chandelier with shades and matching sconces, slipcovers for your dining room chairs, leave the wood dining table top bare except for a center piece with plant or flowers, a nice painting on the wall. Same colour paint for the living room with a new area rug, new accent pillows and side drapes on your window(s).

Lots of potential here, but the concept of cool tones in your fabrics and textiles is not compatible with warm colored walls. I agree you should go ahead and prime them, remove the carpets and then get a fresh eye on everything.

Contact your local historical society for info on this property in particular, and historic home colors in general.

The dining room furniture that’s staying could be updated with new fabric for the chairs and that could really add some wow factor- especially in a light color. Consider swapping older pieces you can part with, and replacing with a few more modern pieces to balance the heaviness of the larger pieces.

Interesting rooms with coved ceilings and unusual windows. Would you add a few sentences about the age of the house or its history? Are you selling soon or updating for yourself?

The color of the nearly-white throw in the chair in the living room may be a good place to start after priming all of it with white primer, as @BeverlyFLADeziner says above.

Will you be re-upholstering anything or keeping what you have?

The house was built in 1938. I will not be selling it. I like the idea of starting with nearly white. I can paint, reupholster, start from scratch. As long as the house stays as is structurally. It is a heritage house with a cool history.

I love the look of a textured wall! So glad you’re keeping the texture. I know you mentioned warm color but have you considered green? This could give the space a super eclectic look with your current dining furniture and slicing it up with a few new pieces. If not green, I like a white/beige or maybe clay color?
