Currently we have a nice size deck off our house and then a not so beautiful backyard. First step was to make a concrete pad for a proper shed to house all of the outdoor gear and then work on the main area left. It’s a large rectangular shape plot and first thought was to put new sod and creat a foot path from house to shed, but then we thought to create the entire yard into a concrete pad. Thoughts? Aside from being somewhat permanent and that green grass is prettier any reason not to? Ideally I would love to split it some and some but can’t figure out a cohesive layout that would allow boys to play basketball and be a practical use for the grassy part left. We are really stuck and would greatly appreciate feedback from other homeowners/ professionals. I’m including a rough layout of the backyard and a few shots of how it looks now. Another point- if I add concrete off the deck I can extend my deck at a latter point which sounds lovely. Probably another 8 feet into the yard.
