Update 1800s Home Curb Appeal

Good morning,

I recently moved into a home built in 1870, and my wife and I are struggling with ways to update the exterior while still maintaining some of the old charm. (Don't worry - not a level wall or floor on the interior, so plenty of originality still!).

We are 100% committed to new white siding and black windows. We just started talking about a large wrap around porch that takes from the current porch on the front door and helps fill some of that 'void' on the front left part of the home that is filled with decorative trees. The total setback is about 10', so contemplating rooflines and the pitch to be able to weld this all together. Our dream would be to have something that walks from the side door to the front door.

The septic tank also comes out from just under the front right window with the tank just off the current front porch, so we are trying to be conscious of the balance - this is why the porch will swing to the left rather than just oversizing where it is.

Any ideas for some inspo on this would be a HUGE help!
