Hello,

Trying to compare the 2 range hoods listed below. Does any one have info as to which may be better at capture area? loudness of fans? Quality etc....

Any help appreciated.

Model # PWC422418 both with internal 1200 CFM fans.

@Miriam - you are expecting us to look up the specs of these hoods? Most people posting questions here provide links so that responders don't have to spend time searching for specs to help the OP. In any case, given the size of 42” and 1200 cfms, these hoods will need an 10” duct to the outside. If you do not size the duct properly, you will have more noise and less efficiency regardless of brand. Perhaps you know that, but you did not provide that information

In all the threads I poured over, I have never seen a link attached for the specs. Maybe I just missed them, but I also didn't really think it necessary given that I provided the 2 brands and that they are both the same size, style, and stretgh. I thought it would essentially have to be someone who is familar with these hoods. My post stemmed from a previous thread on here where @opaone posted a link claiming that most residential hoods don't do a very good job at capturing all the smoke etc... She loinked this https://bamasotan.us/range-exhaust-hood-faq/ where she reccomends Wolf (and several others) if going residential, but claimed that the Prestige High Capacity Hood seems to be miles ahead of those. being that the Prestige hood is not the high capacity option, i was wondering if it still held benefit over the wolf option. prestige model Wolf Model .

I am aware that they would both need a 10" duct. From the outside, they look the same... The question is basically if one would perform better thn the other...

    TIA

@Miriam did you figure it out? after reading the comments in addition to the link provided by @opaone i've decided on prestige. called the company today then i realized i don't know how to complete the disign apsect meaning i don't have a cabinet above and the one he suggested wasn't a chimney type so yea i guess i need a duct cover?!!! where do i get that? lol

@Georganne Dermigny who did you talk to at Prestige? I've been having a hard time getting ahold of anyone.

@Miriam, i have been considering those same two hoods. All things being equal, to me the Wolf looks bulkier--the chimney cover is wider--and since I need a 4-ft chimney extension, and the hood will be seen from all over the great room, I'm leaning toward the Prestige. I would have preferred a canopy style, but my kitchen design can't be made to accommodate one. I first looked into the Prestige after seeing @opaone's post as well. Has anyone ordered it yet?

Oh well, just came back here to say it looks like I can't use an inline blower with that Prestige pyramid classic hood, so i'm back to the Wolf or something else...
