How do peole see in there at all without being right outside those windows maybe show a pic from outside . IMO the blinds will be the answer and maybe just roller shades that roll right up in the daytime.

The moldings look a bit unfinished above the windows - will there be further work done? If not, I think a low-profile blind is the only answer.

You might remove the crown molding, install tracks and put a pair of rolling shutters there. You could salvage a single solid bifold door and modify it into two shutters. Or, if there is room on the right side, leave the door intact and only slide it to the right.

The crown molding is necessary to hide the gap around the edges of the plank ceiling. And yes, it was recently installed so it is not painted yet and that’s why it looks unfinished- it is.

I like the rolling shutters idea.

If you don't want to loose light, consider Window film. Cut, peel and stick.

I had the same dilemma. i got cafe curtains (short and sheer to maintain privacy but allow light in) and then used a tension rod to hold them in place. if there is ever an emergency, they pop right off for easy exit.

With small windows any light blocked will be noticeable. You can install a frosted privacy film that lets in 80-85% of the visible light and gives you complete privacy. Professionally installed on those windows will run you $150-200 total. You could DIY it with a product from decorativefilm.com. This pic shows an 80% VLT frost film.
