I would like to build an outdoor dining table that looks similar to this:

The table top can rest on the 4x4s. I would like to be able to take this table apart and store it flat (stacked vertically on a 2D plane) in the garage until it’s needed, then I would like to reassemble it quickly.

What kind of hardware should I be looking at to assemble the base?

The table does not have to be this exact design. I like the 4 chunky legs and the wood top, and will probably make this out of reclaimed wood or pine or PT wood. (I have a similar table in my dining room made of 4x4 legs, 1x4 braces and a solid 3/4” top.)

I could probably drop the top into the base with dowels or make some other fitting to insert the posts into, but I’ll still need braces between posts. I envision using some sort of 2-part spring clamp to attach and ratchet(?) the base parts together.

Please post any tips or links on how to create a stable base that can be assembled and disassembled quickly. A folding table would be fine too, but that sounds harder and may have more exposed hardware which I prefer not to have.
