Adding light rail to older, non-recessed cabinets?

Our house has older cabinets, and I'd like to install some LED lighting. However, they are missing a light rail, and the bottom of the cabinet is not recessed--meaning the bottom of the cabinet is the bottom shelf. Additionally, there's molding above the cabinet, so there's no space to simply move the doors up.

It sounds like what I can do is either:

1. Install a flat light rail that doesn't overlap the door, but I don't think this will look very good.

2. Install a molding that is slightly lowered (the bottom of the door is pretty flush with the bottom of the cabinet).

Does anybody have any recommendations for these cabinets?
