I recently bought an old 1950s house that has a well. The well pump is located in a concrete pit, about 3-4 feet deep, and is currently covered by some rotting wood. I will only need access to it very rarely. The area that needs to be covered is about 2.5 ft x 2.5 ft, and I'm looking for ideas to cover it. Im having trouble with google searches coming up with anything. I really would like to be able to use that area, instead of just hiding it with landscaping. Initially I thought maybe putting turf over a cover, but there's also a fire pit next to it that I would love to move on top of it. So is there any sort of hatch I could make, that I could safely put a fire pit on top of?
