Green thing looks like a second pump. Float switch could be defective or only need to be adjusted. No way of telling which here from my house.

Oh thank you! that is a backup punp connected to the battery system. the primary everbilt pump is the one that is cycling on and off, not this backup one.

if i replace the float switch will that solve the problem either way? is it worth having a plumber come out or trying that first? i dont know how to adjust it.

Since you don't know how to adjust a float switch,I strongly discourage you from replacing one. If it's a matter of cost, any handyman can test, adjust or replace switch as needed.

If the float switch is something like on this pump, try raising the float on the vertical arm below the switch.

What I see I'm not sure but I have the same thing but what I see that doesn't need to be in there..if I was u ..just replace everything from new .so u know that thing will work better...my pump keeps going on since I'm on spring water...this is a very old house. It was giving to me ..but next year I moving the house over. And hope thing will much better. 🙏. So I can rest in peace. With out thinking about my basement. Is over flooding .. It's a nervous wreck.. I wish you luck....
