Personally, I feel that your light over your sink should have the lighting directed down not up to the ceiling. I wouldn't pick that fixture.

What’s the measurement from your light box in ceiling to the wall?

@clt3 This fixture allows the lights to be "uplight" as shown, or "downlight". Unfortunately, there isn't a photo of the "downlight" configuration available.

The contractor handling the kitchen update can move the box to the other side of the ceiling joist with an old work retro box if necessary.

I would place that chandelier over a dining table, not over a sink. If you're planning a remodel, then have a plan and select a different fixture that works with the entire room. Light fixtures are usually one of the last items installed, so I'd wait until the room is finished to install a new one.

Also, the problem with the pendant is that it is too high above the sink to be of any use. I'd consider a pendant with a longer pole or a wall-mounted fixture.

i like what you have quite a bit better. I'd lower it and probably a different bulb. You will end up w a transitional style kitchen......the colonial styled piece doesnt fit w the ceiling or the updates . what exactly attracts you to the piece? if you just want a change there's probably something to be found.

The current pendant hangs on a chain with the bottom at the level of the top of the window. It was shortened temporarily in the photo so we could hold the chandelier mockup in place. The new chandelier in question (26" and 24" diameter) also has a chain to adjust height from the ceiling.

The home does not have a dining room or room for a dining table. There is an 8' x 40" peninsula with seating on each side separating the kitchen from the living room.

The remainder of the home has been updated and includes brushed nickel, round shapes, bar cabinet hardware, and driftwood colored elements, so I thought this chandelier would tie nicely across the entire space.

How does the additional information factor into your advice?

I thought this chandelier would tie nicely across the entire space since it includes all those elements.

The existing pendant was temporarily shortened to hold a mockup of the chandelier over the sink. I've considered swapping the glass globe or painting the pendant, but I dislike the shape of it. It hangs with the bottom at the height of the top of the window. The chandelier in question also comes with a chain to adjust height.

well do as you see fit..theres more question marks when you say theres a peninsula and bar but no space for a table in the home ??? just do the best you can I guess....

Instead of a chandelier I would opt for a downlight that would provide more directly lighting over the sink.

I had hoped the height of a chandelier vs a pendant would help with the big, blank space between window & ceiling. A taller window is a good idea to put on the checklist for the full kitchen reno. I think taller cabinetry will help to some degree, too. The peak of the ceiling is centered in the connecting living room which is 22' L x15' W, but that leaves it off center in the kitchen.

We've consulted with 3 kitchen designers and haven't been impressed yet, so we decided to do enough updates to make it tolerable for 2-3 years. It's not a simple space, especially with how it connects to the rest of the home. The right designer is out there, we just haven't met yet!

To answer your question of how the additional information fits into my recommendation, I still say (and everyone here agrees) that a chandelier is not appropriate for that space. If you don't have enough light from the existing pendant at the proper height, either get one that can accommodate a higher wattage bulb, or use two wall-mounted fixtures like I showed in the photos above.

Also having no table to eat anywhere in the home is not good. Before you do a lot of work on this kitchen, save up for a total renovation overseen by a professional kitchen designer, who can maximize the space and give you the utility you require.

were in the world...........ok put a recessed light in with a 30 degree spread. you dont need dangles or sconces here. But the other option would be a a sconce over the window.
