I hate to admit that I ever think along the same lines as Verbo, but I was thinking of the tin ceilings in some of the old mansions and historic homes I have toured. I think they make glue on faux tin ceilings now. Brass or gold may be the ticket. May also be restrictively expensive.

I think Verbo’s idea would be awesome. I’m liking the rough ceiling with the glitz and glam in the room, it’s edgy … add a gold leaf design and the juxtaposition would be very dramatic.

I'm not a pro... but the chandelier isn't the delicate type, and so it seems 'heavy' in style, dominating over the delicate lines in the room.

Skipped down to say the shelf at the foot of the bed seems totally out of place - especially since it hides the fancy footboard.

And I agree lighter colored drapes would look better - maybe in ivory or blush - or gold...?

The bar cart can go by the TVOr the refrigerator the CT can go somewhere by the bed so you can watch TV I don't eat in bed

I love the idea to decorate the ceiling (so many amazing suggestions, there; I’m still tossed as to which one to incorporate)! And painting or camouflaging the shoe shelf 👍 Yes! Btw, it’s only there because I’ve outgrown my closet 🫣, and my alternative storage solutions are limited… The mini fridge is another necessity. I’m also considering replacing the sconces and weaving silk flowers is coordinating shades, through the curtain rods, at the top. To the disgruntled postee, accusing me of chasing affirmation, you sound bitter. I don’t take it personally. FWIW, when I had a functional storage box I needed to camouflage, I used a pretty vintage tablecloth over it that reached the floor.

I like it! Ceiling is a good place to start.... it just doesn't look right with the rest of the room. Can you get longer curtains and take them to the ceiling? I always found that look to be grander.... (the more is more kinda thing). The stand in front of your bed needs to be moved or invest in something longer. The size of it compared to your bed is way off. But idk much so take it with a grain of salt.

I think Jinx's ceilings would be great! I would use the same off white of the furniture on the ceiling and add a pattern around the chandelier.

Me, personally I would swap out the velvet green curtains for velvet curtains in an ivory. I like the subtle blush of color on the walls and feel like the curtains will give a subtle contrast; but, also a place to rest the eyes.

You know, honestly, I don’t know why I initially went with dark green drapes. Looking back, it was the drama! I knew, to revive the existing furniture, I had to think GRAND 🤩…I’m a firm advocate, positively, when it comes to preservation— and they happened to match the vision I had in my head, given the existing furniture that I knew was salvageable. I also have a very particular spouse to contend with 😂 , amongst 👆lol. Sooo, many factors!

Even Lowes has a metallic paint. I've used it on projects. you can make a lot of colors.

They have a Pink shimmer metallic. maybe mix it w/a bit of the white? or go for the gold

Love the shimmery paint ceiling idea - I wouldn't paint it just a color - thats a bit ordinary. I like the wood ceiling, but the shimmer fits the mood IMO. Other than that I wouldn't paint the wood, maybe coat the wood with something to give it some shine. I think the wood looks warm.

I would suggest a different rug......one that is a little more subtle. I think that will enhance the furniture in the room. Also, I'm not sure what your focal point is. I think there is just a little too much competition in the room.

I love the soft pink ceiling too! I am sure the gold ceiling is also on your list but the softness of the one that Beth posted just feels like it would complement the room and not take away from all its fabulousness.

Fabulous space! the only thing that doesn’t fit is the little cart at the end of the bed; get rid of it and you’ve got something worthy of a design magazine!

Back at it again…
I’ve decided to go with a coordinating light pink on the ceiling.
As far as my exposed pipes and electrical go, I’ll be painting them in a coordinating “aqua-ish” shade 😁
I’ve ordered silk flowers and foliage (dahlias, peonies, and roses) in varrying shades of pink to “garland” my window tops with whimsy 🥰✨🥰

So, that’s where I’m at, on improvements, with the help of y’all 😁

Id consider rotating the rug.

Paint the exposed ceiling stuff the same as the ceiling. Don’t put flowers on the windows. Those are just a dust magnet. I agree the bar cart isn’t right for the foot of the bed. You need a bench or poofs there, or a trunk for storage. The curtain color needs to either be referenced elsewhere in the space or changed.

Soft pink ceiling is main improvement. Next, get a bench for foot of bed with storage for shoes! Move that shelf piece to a dining area. Get the ceiling done first, then reassess window treatments. Paint conduits for electricals same as ceiling. Let them disappear. Turning the rug might be helpful too or possibly layer in a bit of leopard.

The first thing I noticed was the curtains - just not the right color - doesn’t jive with everything else. Great room though!

Curtain color is referenced in the rug and duvet cover… what color would you suggest (Rachel)? Also, not too worried about dust magnets— I’m fortunate to have a full time housekeeper, and she takes care of that sort of thing. Unless, you were saying to ditch them for aesthetic purposes? Anyway, I think it’s worth trying. Worst case scenario I’ll have enjoyed fashioning the garland 🙃

My thoughts lean toward a rearrangement of the furniture, but you haven't posted a floor plan yet. Would need to know the measurement of the shoe bookcases too. My curtain ideas would be extreme but depend on some measurements.

Some ideas. You could select a combination of silk fabric colors and drape over rod. I would do ceiling first. Maybe a sky color. Glossy finish kind of like a Venetian plaster look. Put a storage bench at foot of bed. I put small leopard lumbar pillow on bed.

If you are in a building with "rules", you might not be able to paint that ceiling?? But the ceiling is the biggest negative in your room. So, if that's the case, then cabana draping might be a solution.

Soft pink ceiling and drapes? I like the pink on the ceiling better than the turquoise.

I think the heaviness of the current drapes is also an issue. They may block out the light well, but they don’t feel as feminine and soft as the rest of the room. A different fabric would make a huge difference.

Here is Pale Pink ceiling. (Colors on Internet are totally off!). But to give look. I am leaning more to a pale aqua more sky like. You could do either but if you choose pink just use same color pink as walls only use glossy finish.

Any thoughts? I can mock up different ceiling looks you might want to try.
